MBD's First Med Spa Project

A Sanctuary of Self-Care: Designing DermaPrecision, Scottsdale’s Elevated Med Spa

When the founders of DermaPrecision engaged Meg Behrens Design to bring their vision to life, they knew they didn’t want a typical med spa. They envisioned a space designed by women, for women—a sanctuary where clients could feel calm, cared for, and deeply at ease. MBD translated that vision into a serene, sophisticated environment that blends wellness, warmth, and refinement at every touchpoint.

Located in the heart of Scottsdale, DermaPrecision redefines what a clinical space can be. From the outset, Meg approached the project with equal parts sensitivity and strategy—balancing aesthetic goals with the functional realities of a highly regulated space. ADA compliance and health office standards played a significant role in shaping the layout, material selections, and spatial flow. Rather than viewing these constraints as limitations, MBD used them as a framework to elevate the design.

Designing Within the Details

The reception and waiting area were conceived as an inviting lounge, offering a sense of comfort without sacrificing the professional requirements of a medical environment. All pathways, doorways, and turning radii were meticulously planned to meet ADA standards—allowing for wheelchair accessibility without compromising the studio’s graceful proportions. Treatment rooms were designed with exacting precision, each one meeting clinical specifications for hygiene, sink placement, and spatial clearance, while still feeling intimate and luxurious.

Materials That Work as Hard as They Look Beautiful

Every material was selected for both its tactile quality and performance. Non-porous surfaces, cleanable textiles, and seamless millwork ensure that the spa not only looks polished, but also meets rigorous health and safety requirements. Soft, neutral tones and layered textures add warmth and depth, offsetting the technical nature of the environment and creating a calming backdrop for care.

The Feminine Touch, Elevated

Throughout the space, curved forms, warm woods, and brushed metals evoke a quiet femininity—confident, modern, and soothing. Custom furnishings and thoughtful lighting lend a hospitality-like sensibility, ensuring that clients feel welcomed and at ease from the moment they arrive. Nothing feels harsh or clinical, even though every detail is designed to support wellness and safety.

A Space That Reflects Its Purpose

DermaPrecision is more than a med spa—it’s a space where women can come as they are, and leave feeling more like themselves. Meg Behrens Design approached the project with reverence for that experience, honoring both the emotional and operational needs of the space. The result is a studio that feels effortlessly elevated, deeply intentional, and entirely one of a kind.
